If you love high fashion, designer brands, and cute cafes, you're going to want to put the Dior Cafe on your bucket list. Recently, I went to the Dior Cafe in Miami’s Design District. Here was my experience.
It was a typical winter afternoon in Miami - temperature in the mid-70’s and sunny. There was a slight breeze. I was on a mission. A mission to experience the Dior cafe. I expected there to be a wait, especially since it was a Saturday. So, I figured I would put my name on the list as we explored the area.
The Dior Cafe is open 7 days a week year round. However, it does not take reservations, so you have to arrive in person to put your name on the waitlist the day of. The cafe is hidden from the public, so you probably wouldn’t know it exists if you didn’t know to look for it. You have to go to the entrance of Dior and tell the person at the front whether you'd like to enter the store or the café. If you say you’d like to go to the cafe, they will put your name on the waitlist and notify you when your table is ready.
We were lucky on the day we went, because we waited for less than 15 minutes - but I have heard of wait times of up to an hour or more, so it really depends on the day. Fortunately, in the heart of Miami’s design district, there’s a plethora of shops and sights to explore.
Once we were able to go to the cafe, we were guided through the Dior store to an elevator that took us up to the rooftop terrace. We were met by grand double doors that, when opened, revealed a luxurious setting with lush vegetation and Toile de Jouy print on walls, pieces of furniture and large sculptures of lions, giraffes and monkeys.
We were led to our table and given the menu. You can enjoy a variety of beverages, pastries and light fare. The experience will cost you more than the average cafe, with my latte and almond croissant costing nearly $15 each. Drinks come branded with the Christian Dior logo in cocoa powder. Our waitress and the staff were attentive and helpful throughout our time here. The atmosphere was thoughtfully curated to create a grand and glamorous experience. As you might expect, there are numerous opportunities to take photos as well.
From the atmosphere to the drinks, pastries and service, I enjoyed my time here. This designer cafe may come with a heftier price tag, but I thought it was worth the experience. It’s not every day that you get to enjoy the Dior Cafe, so if you have the chance, I would definitely recommend experiencing it for yourself.
